Who is JCruz?

- My name is Josh (JCruz) and I am a Mixing Engineer from San Jose, CA. I currently reside in Austin, TX.

How long have you been engineering?

- I have been playing the drums and guitar for over 17 years. I have been producing music, recording and engineering for the past 10 years.

I graduated from Full Sail University in 2014 with my BA in Recording Arts and started Mad Rez Studios officially in 2017.

Where can I hear your mixing work?

- You can check out some of my mixes here!

What are your mixing and mastering rates?

- I charge for mixing per song, and per project. There are two sizes of mixes generally, a basic mix (2-track + up to 10 vocal stems) and the Advanced mix (fully tracked out beat + up to 50 TOTAL stems).

Check out our mixing packages here.

What is your return policy?

- Due to the nature of Mad Rez Studios (non-tangible digital goods) products, it is not possible to "return a

product". We therefore DO NOT offer refunds or exchange after the purchase of templates or presets.

Do you make custom presets/templates?

- Yes, I have made custom templates for clients that I mix for. I generally like to have worked with you on a mix and then once the mix is approved, a template can be made from that mix.

If you would like to get a mix started check out my Mixing Packages.

Do you have an affiliate program?

- I do indeed! If you love my products and want to earn some extra money recommending them to your friends, then let me introduce you to the Mad Rez Affiliate Program!

Sign up to receive your custom link, and you'll make 20% of your friend’s purchase amount when they shop!

What DAWS do you support with your templates?

- Currently, we have recording templates for Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Studio One 5, FL Studio, and Ableton Live.

I have templates & presets made with stock plugins as well as more advanced versions made with 3rd party plugins like Waves.

My Vocal DRIP series are presets made for Waves StudioRack which can be used in ANY DAW!

As long as you have the required Waves plugins needed for the presets (listed on each product page), you can use the Vocal DRIP series preset packs.

What plugins are used in your templates?

- Each product page will have its individual plugins used listed in the product description for that template/preset pack.

For the Advanced Templates, I have made a full list of every plugin used because this template is by far the most complex of all of my products.

Do you have stock plugin templates?

- Yes I do have a few templates that use only stock plugins! Check them out here.

What is the difference between the Basic Templates and the Advanced Templates?

- The basic templates are simple in nature. They are a great way to start making tracks fast without the headache of setting up your sessions every time.

The advanced templates go much deeper with extensive effects chains and presets. If you want to record, mix, and master a professional-grade song, then the advanced templates are the way to go.

Do your templates and presets come with the 3rd party plugins?

- No, our templates and preset packs DO NOT INCLUDE the required 3rd party plugins.

To see which plugins are required for each template or preset pack, check the product descriptions.

What is a StudioRack preset?

- Waves StudioRack is a FREE plugin made by Waves that allows you to load a series of other Waves plugins (installed on your computer) to make custom mixing chains with huge customizability.

The best part, StudioRack can be loaded in virtually ANY DAW! This allows me to make premium presets that can be used by many different artists, regardless of what DAW they use.

Our Vocal DRIP preset packs are all made for Waves StudioRack.

Do you have samples I could preview?

- Of course! Each product has it's own samples you can hear in the product description on each product page.

Do you have an all waves version template?

- Yes! My Advanced Mixing template includes a version that is Waves Only.

My Vocal DRIP series are preset packs made for Waves StudioRack (Free Plugin) and use only Waves

Does your template come with presets for the 2 track beat?

- Yes! My Advanced Mixing templates and my Vocal DRIP preset pack include fully customizable 2-track

chains that I use to really bring the beat to life and make it KNOCK when mixing to a 2-track beat.

I need help using the Advanced template...

- Great choice with Advanced Rec+Mix+Master template, it's a serious game changer!

If you are a bit overwhelmed or need some help, don't worry. I Got You!

The “How To Install” video included with the template is to get you started and show you how to install the template and my basic workflow when using it.

Here is a link to that:

Want to see it in action?? These next few videos are some tutorials showing how I mix using the template.

I have Pro Tools installed, but still have some "stock plugins" missing?

Avid AIR Effects Plugins used in my templates as well. They are free when you purchase Pro Tools, they just need to be downloaded and installed separately. Read More Here.

How do I find/install the Waves StudioRack Presets?

- The preset files are all in a folder that you downloaded. They are all organized by preset type (Lead vocal, Dubs, Adlibs, etc.)

You can either save these in a safe place you will remember and be able to easily locate them, or you can actually save them into the StudioRack plugin preset menu.

To do this just copy the preset folders you downloaded to the Waves StudioRack Preset folder.

Waves StudioRack Preset Folder Location:

Macintosh HD > Applications > Waves > Data > Presets > StudioRack > PUT VOCAL DRIP FOLDERS HERE

Vocal DRIP presets aren't working in my DAW...

- Vocal DRIP presets are presets for Waves StudioRack and are loaded through that plugin specifically.

Make sure to follow along with the How To Install PDF that came with your download.

All you have to do is open your Pro Tools session and load StudioRack into an insert of the track you

want the preset on. Then from there, you can load the presets from the StudioRack plugin.

Which waves plugins should I buy first? I don't know where to start...

- That’s tricky, only because it can be a spendy road when you start to buy plugins. If you do decide to invest in some nice plugins, I recommend starting with the Horizon pack. That will get you a big chunk of the plugins needed.

(Don't forget to use my link for 10% off!)

From there, you can see the other few packs needed to use my Vocal DRIP Series Presets. Those will give you a lot of power with just using Waves plugins.

If you decide you want to try out the Advanced Rec+Mix+Master template, there are a few other 3rd party plugins needed. So that's why it is more of an advanced tool because it requires quite a few purchased plugins to run correctly.

I only suggest you get what you are comfortable with spending and feel you really need! From there I can guide you with any help or assistance using the tools with my tutorials and templates.

How do I send you my files?

- Be sure to LABEL and export your audio files all at the FULL LENGTH of the song. Remove any

plugins unless they are being used to create a specific effect that you want to be included in the final

song. Place all your audio files into a folder labeled like this "ARTIST NAME- SONG NAME". Zip

or Compress that folder if necessary and head over to the Upload Your Project Page.

What file formats do you accept?

- WAV of AIFF that are at least 16bit, 44.1kHz.

How should I prepare the mix?

- In your DAW, make sure you have all of your tracks labeled something that makes sense. (Not just Audio 01, Audio 02, etc.)

If you have any creative mix ideas you want to be included in your mix (like cool delays or filtered voice effects on certain lines) be sure to include a reference mix.

Export the song out with effect plugins like reverbs or delays, and include this mix as a reference so I can see what you were going for.

Before sending the raw files to me, however, remove ALL plugins that you had in your session so I can better process the files from my end.

How will you know what effects I want to hear in my song?

- Great question. Generally, I have the artists send me over a “rough mix” or just a current version of the song with any effects or ideas you have for the direction and vibe of the song. That gives me a good idea of what you’re looking for.

When you are ready to begin the mix, I’ll have you send me over all the individual audio tracks without any effects or plugins on them so that I can begin the mix from the cleanest possible point.

The only time I have people leave effects on the audio tracks is if they know they want that effect to sound exactly like the way they have it, and just need me to clean it up from there (like a chopped and screwed vocal effect or cool filter effect).

There is also a small questionnaire that you fill out when you place your order and send over the files to give me a better idea of the effects and direction you want to take the song.

What if I have some vocal effects already in my session?

- Try to send over your vocal stems as clean and raw as possible for the best results. If you have any creative mix ideas you want to be included in your mix (like cool delays or filtered voice effects on certain lines) be sure to include a reference mix.

The only time I have people leave effects on the audio tracks is if they know they want that effect to sound exactly like the way they have it, and just need me to clean it up from there (like a chopped and screwed vocal effect or cool filter effect).

Do you accept session files?

- I can take Pro Tools or Logic Pro X sessions but any other DAWs, I need each of the individual tracks exported as audio files.

Turn around times?

- I aim to have my mixes back to my clients within 48 hours. If scheduling does not allow those

turnaround times, I will be sure to let you know when you submit your files.

Do you offer mastering?

- With every mix package you purchase, I include a free mastered version that you could release and be happy with.

With that being said, I am not a mastering engineer. Upon request, I can include an Un-Mastered version of a mix if you plan to use a different mastering engineer.

What if I want some changes done after you send me my mixed song?

- Not a problem! I include 2 revisions with every mix to make any adjustments you may need. I also have you fill out a short form going over any requests you may have for the mix before we even begin to make sure I get your mix as close to perfect the very first time.

Can you work on songs in other languages?

- Absolutely! Music is the universal language.

Can you mix & master my whole album/project?

- I can indeed! I offer discounts on mixing multiple songs (5 or more). If you have a whole project to work on, please select the Project Mix when selecting which mix package you want.
